CLEVELAND,Ohio-Community activists will protest today, April 4, at 5 pm on Public Square in downtown Cleveland over fatal police shootings, including the shooting deaths late last year by Cleveland police of unarmed Blacks Malissa Wiliams, 30, and Timothy Russell, 43 (pictured), both gunned down with a hail of some 137 bullets following a police chase from downtown Cleveland that ended near a middle school in the neighboring city of East Cleveland.

The rally will also address other victims of violence in Greater Cleveland, organizers said. For more information contact Khalid Samad at 216-538-4043 or Griot Y-Von at 216-355-3374.

Some 65 police cars were involved in a 28 minute police chase with 13 all non-Black Cleveland police officers participating in the deadly shooting.

Criminal charges, if any, have not yet been filed against the officers, all of whom are on light duty with pay.

"We are going to keep  this atrocity of Tim and Malissa in the public because we have a tendency to forget," said Abdul Qahhar, chairman of The Cleveland Chapter of the New Black Panther Party.

Khalid Samad, leader of Peace in the Hood and the Task Force for Community Mobilization, said that he will lead the protest that includes other grassroots community organizations such as Black on Black Crime, The People's Forum, The Audacity of Hope Foundation, The Greater Cleveland Immigrant Support Network and The Imperial Women.

"This rally is to stop the madness and to stop the murders because what happen to Tim and Malissa is madness," said Samad, a longtime community activist.

At a meeting of Black on Black Crime held Wednesday night community activists, who attended the meeting in droves along with family members of Williams,  were upset and said that the killings must stop.

"We support the rally and I will be there," said Art McKoy, founder of Black on Black Crime.

CLEVELAND,Ohio- The redistricting map that Cleveland City Council approved last week that drops council wards from 19 to 17 seats based on declining population pits popular Ward 8 Councilman Jeff Johnson (pictured) and Ward 9 Councilman Kevin Conwell, both of whom are Black, against each other in city council races this year with their two wards combined into a newly established Ward 9. And not one White councilperson is largely impacted by the remapping, though the majority Black major metropolitan city of Cleveland is roughly 58 percent Black, and only 37 percent White.

WASHINGTON, D.C- The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument last week on  California’s Proposition 8,  a ban on same-sex marriage.

Proposition 8 was an initiative on California ballots in 2008 that voters approved that banned same sex marriage, and it conflicts with a California Supreme Court ruling made months earlier that allows it. CLICK THIS LINK HERE TO READ MORE AT HUFFINGTON POST.COM

Cleveland Urban News.Com News Brief: Below is a reprint of a November 14, 2011 article by Cleveland Urban News.Com. Recently Republican Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor (pictured) of the Ohio Supreme Court assigned Willoughby retired judge Larry Allen to the Cleveland Councilman Zack Reed case (pictured in red tie)), a third DUI arrest for the Black councilman, who was charged earlier this month of March 2013. But Ohio Revised Code 1901.10  is a state law that requires that retired visiting judges, such as the one the replaced Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Pinkey Carr  in this last DUI case for Zack after she recused herself and the other Cleveland judges would not take the case, must come from the territorial jurisdiction of the court. In Cleveland the territorial jurisdiction is Cleveland and Bratenahl not Willoughby.  Community activists call for the FEDS that are in town to investigate deadly Cleveland shootings, to investigate the judges, and whether there might be a plethora of impropriety including case fixing as to the handpicking of retired judges by other judges themselves in the Ohio Supreme Court and in common pleas and municipal trial courts throughout the state.

BEREA, Ohio-Berea Municipal Court Judge Mark Comstock (pictured in blue tie), who is now under investigation by the Cleveland Plain Dealer Newspaper for documented impropriety, is under fire.

Among a host of other allegations, Comstock is accused of recruiting out-of-town retired White visiting judges with nothing to lose to replace him in cases previously before him to harass maliciously prosecuted Blacks and women including triple bonds issued without holding a bond forfeiture hearing and without revoking the first bond as required by state law.

And also with the help of these visiting judges, the judge is revoking the bonds put up by Blacks without just cause while leaving similarly situated Whites alone. And, to complicate matters further, data show also that Republican Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor, the first female chief justice in Ohio history, is the person sending these unethical and corrupt out-of-the-community judges to assist Comstock, after he quits the case following his own unprecedented harassment of the maliciously prosecuted Black and female defendants.
