CLEVELAND, Ohio— After losing Games 1 on Sunday, the Cleveland Cavaliers fail to the Indiana Pacers 120-119 Tuesday night at the the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse arena in downtown Cleveland and lost Game 2 of Round 2 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Playoffs, a best-of-seven-games series leading up to their quest to win the Conference Finals and, ultimately, the NBA Finals.

The Cavs led throughout the game, primarily, and by as much as 14 points during the first quarter. But they could not hold off the Pacers overall, losing in a fourth-quarter stunner by one point. Key Cavs players Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and DeAndre Hunter were sidelined with injuries, which did not help, particularly the absence of Mobley, who was instrumental relative to their Round 1 four-game sweep against the Miami Heat.

Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell carried the Cavs, both offensively and defensively, and scored 48 points Tuesday night, followed by Max Strus with 23, Ty Jerome 17, and Jarrett  Allen, 14.

Led by head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers have their eyes on the NBA Championship trophy, and so do Cleveland fans, Cleveland a largely Black major American city and the second largest city in Ohio, behind Columbus, the state capital.

Cleveland has not won an NBA championship since 2016, when megastar LeBron James, who now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, was a team member.
